Enhance Your Facial Features With Semi-Permanent Make-Up

Make-up has been around since the ancient Egyptians, where as well as wearing it for cosmetic reasons, they used it for health and protection. In those times, both men and women used natural things to colour their skin.

They used;

  • Kohl – which was either lead sulphide, amorphous carbon or organic charcoal for an eyeliner, or a green mineral powder called malachite for make-up on the eyes.
  • Red ochre – to stain the lips and nails.
  • Henna – to stain the fingertips and toes.

These days, many women apply make-up; some to enhance their features, or to look and feel more glamorous, others wear it to cover up their imperfections. Applying make-up might be difficult if you’re short-sighted or you might just want to have more time in your day.

It takes a lot of training, skill and practise for a beauty technician to produce the best results, as applying permanent and semi-permanent cosmetics is a highly skilled craft. Everyone has unique facial features, face structure and skin tone, which can influence the treatment in different ways.

Benefits for eyebrows

  • No more spending hours making sure they look symmetrical.
  • You won’t worry about your make-up running when you’re in the pool or the gym.
  • No more worrying over which colours match your skin tone.
  • You won’t have to worry about over plucking your eyebrows.

There are many reasons the eyebrows might need enhancing; over plucking, naturally thin or fair, or they might be sparse because of medical reasons. A new set of eyebrows can easily be created to rectify thinning eyebrows or just a few hair strokes can easily be added to fill in any gaps. The eyebrows are very important as they frame your face, and they can add instant lift, shape and contour. Brows treated with semi-permanent make-up tend to look darker in colour straight after the first treatment, but after time it’ll become lighter.

Benefits for eyeliner

  • A choice of subtle enhancement or a more noticeable eyeliner.
  • Create definition to make your eyes stand out.
  • Enhance the natural shape of your eyes.
  • You won’t have to worry about smudged eyeliner.
  • Achieve a symmetrical looking eyeliner.

Eyeliner can open up the eyes, and a soft line above or below the eye might make the eyelashes look darker and thicker. Eyeliner comes in many colours and can give the eyes shape and definition, and you can have anything from a soft, natural looking enhancement, a dramatic smoky effect, or a thicker defined line.

Benefits for lips

  • Get back your youthful lip shape
  • Enhance and define your lips
  • Spend less time reapplying lipstick after drinking and eating.
  • Keep up your favourite colour and shade.
  • Make your lips look thicker and fuller by creating symmetry.

Trying to achieve beautifully shaped full lips with a lip liner and lipstick can sometimes be a challenge. It’s time-consuming with constant re-applications throughout the day. Everyone wants lovely looking lips with a healthy blush of colour. Semi-permanent lip liner means no smeared lipstick on your teeth, or colour bleeding into the lip lines.

Semi-permanent make-up is subtle and natural looking and doesn’t wash away, smudge or disappear. The colour can last for many years but the vibrancy will begin to fade over time. The make-up pigment stays in the dermis, but it’s also influenced by several things, including skin tones, environmental factors and sun exposure. The amount and the colour of pigment applied, can affect how long semi-permanent make-up looks its best on the skin. Natural subtle applications are more likely to need a touch-up before more the darker dramatic ones.

How Personality Types Can Be Determined by Your Facial Features

Carol Tuttle’s personality type test called Energy Profiling™ can accurately determine your personality and beauty type by assessing your physical facial features.

In this system, there are four main profile Types and she says we all lead with one, however we have a strong secondary and aspects of all four in each of us.

The book that Carol Tuttle wrote called “Dressing Your Truth: Discover Your Type of Beauty” goes into it in depth to the point where she is breaking things down to your body language and the way you walk, your voice tone, how you sit, and even how you doodle.

It’s truly fascinating and a great read.

But because it’s easier to visualize and understand the concept of this system by demonstrating it with people you’re familiar with… here are the four types as represented by famous female celebrities.

According to this personality type test, Type 1 women are found to be bright, light, and animated not just in their look, but in their movement, their voices, and both their inner and outer expression. They are fun-loving, they don’t take themselves too seriously, they are inspiring, hopeful, and full of ideas. Everybody wants to be their friend because they are light-hearted, make people laugh and are fun to be around.

Let’s look at the actress Reese Witherspoon.

She is a classic Type 1. She’s certainly beautiful but may more often get called cute especially when you hear her youthful, higher-pitched voice, she speaks with animation and somewhat quickly (think of her character in Legally Blonde). She has classic heart-shaped face with a rounded chin (a round face is also common for Type 1s). Her slight dimples come out when she smiles which also shows off her two apple cheeks. She has a small, cute, nose with a rounded tip. She has sparkly eyes that smile on their own and make you feel uplifted just looking at her. The outside corners of her eyes lift up and the lines go up as well. She has a very youthful appearance that remains no matter what her age.

Other famous Type 1 women are Katie Couric, Meryl Streep, Sally Field, Drew Barrymore, Rachel Ray and Paula Abdul.

Some famous Type 1 men are Will Smith, Jim Carrey, Johnny Carson, Tom Hanks, Will Farrell, and Adam Sandler.

According to this personality type test, Type 2 women are found to be soft, subtle, and beautiful not just in their look, but in their movement, their voices, and both their inner and outer expression. They like to be comfortable and relaxed, they are nurturing and care about the comfort of others. Their energy is fluid and inviting, and they are calming to others and easy to be around.

Let’s look at actress Jennifer Anniston.

Jennifer is a Type 2. She has a definite oval-shaped face & hairline with soft, gently curved facial lines and blended, even skin tone. She has an elongated nose and even her nostrils are oval shaped. The S-curve shape is common to Type 2s and you can draw a soft one from her eyebrow to her inner eye, down her nose, around her mouth and under her chin. She has long, half oval-shaped eyebrows (not pointy) and almond shaped eyes with a heavier eyelid giving her a dreamy look. She carries herself with grace, is easy-going, caring and connected to the people around her.

Other famous Type 2 women are Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Princess Diana, Grace Kelly, Barbara Streisand, and Jaclyn Smith.

They like to take swift, decisive action and get things done and they are often on the move. Their energy is pushing forward, and extroverted, and often intense.

She has a substantial nose and eyebrows that come to a peak and the corners of her mouth and cheeks make a triangular shape when she smiles. She has rich-looking skin and a fiery gaze. She carries herself with sureness, especially while on stage performing. She makes a statement and is always looking to get a reaction from her audience. She is in hot pursuit of her career with fierce determination to get results.

According to this personality type test, Type 4 women are found to be bold, striking, and polished, not just in their look, but in their movement, their voices, and both their inner and outer expression. They tend to like things structured, clean and simple and often get viewed as very serious. They are often referred to as stunning in their looks and their energy is still and constant and they tend to have very deep feeling, reflective personalities.

Let’s look at actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Gwyneth is a true Type 4. She has an elongated oval shaped face and you can draw parallel lines on either side of her face. Her features are so exact and symmetrical that you could draw a line down the middle and both sides would mirror each other. She has flawless, porcelain skin and her high cheek bones compliment her calm smile which forms a straight line across. Her straight nose with elongated oval nostrils also have parallel lines down the bridge as well as her eyes. As you look at her she has a stillness and sense of authority in her gaze.
